  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution commending the Greater Tampa

  3         Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100 for being

  4         selected as one of the top 10 economic

  5         development groups in 1998.

  6

  7         WHEREAS, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce

  8  Committee of 100, under the direction of the Greater Tampa

  9  Chamber of Commerce Chairman Rhea Law and President Don Barber

10  and Committee of 100 Chairman Bob Martinez and Director of

11  Economic Development Robin Ronne, aided in bringing more than

12  $400 million in corporate investments and 6,400 jobs to its

13  service area in 1998, and

14         WHEREAS, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce

15  Committee of 100 has attracted numerous high-profile companies

16  to its service area, including CitiGroup, Capital One, and

17  Chase Manhattan, which made significant location moves to the

18  Tampa Bay area, and

19         WHEREAS, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce

20  Committee of 100 has inventively dovetailed its efforts with

21  corporate strategies to create the kind of congruence that is

22  essential to making major corporate location projects happen,

23  and

24         WHEREAS, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce

25  Committee of 100 was instrumental in the CitiGroup Center

26  relocation, which involved a $250 million investment and the

27  creation of 1,500 jobs and was selected as one of the Top Ten

28  Corporate Facility Deals in 1998, and

29         WHEREAS, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce

30  Committee of 100 was recently recognized as one of the Top Ten

  1  Development Groups in 1998 by Site Selection Magazine, NOW,

  2  THEREFORE,

  4  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

  5

  6         That the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Committee of

  7  100 is commended for its outstanding work and effort in

  8  assisting in the economic development of the Tampa Bay area.

  9         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

10  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the

11  Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100 as a

12  tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
