  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution commending Linda Cook, Joe

  3         Millsaps, and Bill Bucknam for their

  4         contribution to the success of Broward Days

  5         Tallahassee 1999.

  6

  7         WHEREAS, Linda Cook and Joe Millsaps were co-chairs of

  8  the Broward Days Tallahassee 1999 event, and Bill Bucknam was

  9  the event fundraiser, and

10         WHEREAS, the Broward Days Tallahassee 1999 was a most

11  successful event and exposed the legislative process to more

12  than 100 citizens and business leaders from Broward County,

13  and

14         WHEREAS, the Broward Days Tallahassee 1999 event

15  focused on "Education First" and stressed the economic value

16  of education, and

17         WHEREAS, the Broward Days Tallahassee 1999 event

18  delivered a message to the Legislature and to Governor Bush

19  regarding the importance of education to Broward County and,

20  most importantly, to the economic well-being of Broward County

21  and the State of Florida, and

22         WHEREAS, the Broward Days Tallahassee 1999 event was

23  also notable in that the participants were given the

24  opportunity to meet with all state departments to achieve a

25  better understanding of the duties, responsibilities, and

26  future plans for each department, and

27         WHEREAS, the Broward Days Tallahassee 1999 proved to

28  contribute a valuable service to the participants, to the

29  Legislature, and to the Executive Branch of Florida

30  government, NOW, THEREFORE,

  1  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

  2

  3         That the Florida Senate commends Linda Cook, Joe

  4  Millsaps, and Bill Bucknam for their contributions to the

  5  business community and to the citizens of Broward County

  6  through their successful leadership and direction of the

  7  Broward Days Tallahassee 1999 event.
