  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution recognizing the week of June 21

  3         through June 27, 1999, as Workers' Right to

  4         Organize Week.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, federal law protects employees' rights to form

  7  or join unions, and

  8         WHEREAS, unions provide employees with a voice on the

  9  job, and

10         WHEREAS, unions have resulted in better benefits and

11  greater job security for workers, and

12         WHEREAS, unionized employees generally earn more than

13  their nonunion counterparts and contribute to the economic

14  vitality of our communities, and

15         WHEREAS, unions have contributed to the growth of

16  democracy, the well-being of America's working families, and

17  our communities generally, NOW, THEREFORE,

18

19  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

20

21         That the week of June 21 through June 27, 1999, is

22  recognized as Workers' Right to Organize Week.
