1 Senate Resolution No.
2 A resolution condemning the racism and bigotry
3 espoused by Florida State University Professor
4 Glayde Whitney.

6 WHEREAS, it is a basic and inalienable right of all
7 Floridians, as written in the Constitution of the State of
8 Florida that "All natural persons, female and male alike, are
9 equal before the law," and "No person shall be deprived of any
10 right because of race, religion, national origin, or physical
11 disability" (Section 2, Article I of the State Constitution),
12 and
13 WHEREAS, the Constitution of the State of Florida also
14 states that "Every person may speak, write, and publish
15 sentiments on all subjects but shall be responsible for the
16 abuse of that right" (Section 4, Article I of the State
17 Constitution), and
18 WHEREAS, the Florida Senate opposes racism, bigotry,
19 and all forms of ethnic and religious intolerance, and
20 WHEREAS, the Florida Senate supports policies that
21 uphold provisions of the Constitution of the State of Florida
22 and provide equal opportunity for all, and
23 WHEREAS, Florida State University tenured Professor
24 Glayde Whitney, through his writings and utterances,
25 promulgates dogma that supports white supremacy and
26 anti-Semitism and undermines the efforts of the Florida Senate
27 to advance equal opportunity for all, and
28 WHEREAS, the Florida Senate concludes that Professor
29 Whitney's views are amply evidenced by his statements, written
30 and oral, regarding genetic predispositions, and his
31 affiliations with known supremacist and separatist groups, and

1 WHEREAS, the Florida Senate concludes that Florida
2 State University Professor Glayde Whitney's writings and
3 utterances are abhorrent and contravene and seek to undermine
4 the basic rights written in the State of Florida Constitution,
5 its statutes, and its policies, NOW, THEREFORE,
6
7 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
8
9 That the Florida Senate condemns the racist,
10 intolerant, and divisive teachings of Professor Glayde Whitney
11 as an affront to the values and morals of our state and
12 nation, and repudiates his views with this instrument of
13 truth.
