11  Senator Bronson moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 5, between lines 27 and 28,

15

16  insert:

17         Section 3.  Section 951.04, Florida Statutes, is

18  amended to read:

19         951.04  Duty of county commissioners upon discharge of

20  prisoner.--When a prisoner is discharged by reasons of having

21  served his or her sentence, or upon receiving a pardon or

22  parole, he or she shall be furnished transportation, or its

23  equivalent in money, back to the place from which the prisoner

24  was sentenced, together with the sum of $5, where the sentence

25  is for 4 months or more, and the sum of $3 where the sentence

26  is for a lesser period than 4 months, in addition to his or

27  her transportation, all of which shall be paid out of the

28  general fund of the county in which he or she was convicted,

29  and for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of this

30  chapter, the clerk of the board of county commissioners of

31  each county shall, under the directions of said board, issue a

 1  check on said fund with which to pay these amounts to the

 2  prisoners being discharged at the time of their release.

12         amending s. 951.04, F.S.; deleting provisions

14         to provide a specified amount of money to a

15         prisoner at the time of release;
