11  Senator Meek moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 5, between lines 12 and 13,

15

16  insert:

17         Section 4.  Section 938.14, Florida Statutes, is

18  created to read:

19         938.14  Additional court costs in domestic violence

20  cases.--

21         (1)  When a person pleads guilty or nolo contendere to,

22  or is found guilty or convicted of, regardless of

23  adjudication, an act of domestic violence as defined in s.

24  741.28, there shall be imposed on the person as a cost in the

25  case, in addition to any other cost or penalty required to be

26  imposed by law, a court cost in the sum of $36. This

27  additional court cost shall be assessed against the person

28  unless specifically waived by the court on the record.

29         (2)  The clerk of the court shall collect the

30  respective $36 assessments for court costs provided for in

31  this section and, on a monthly basis, transfer the moneys

 1  collected to the State Treasury for deposit in the designated

 2  account of the Domestic Violence Trust Fund for disbursement

 3  in accordance with s. 741.01(2).

10         On page 1, line 13, after the semicolon

12  insert:

13         creating s. 938.14, F.S.; providing for

14         imposition of an additional mandatory court

15         cost upon a person found to have committed an

16         act of domestic violence; providing for waiver

17         of the court cost; providing for collection by

18         the clerk of the court; providing for deposit

19         of such court costs in the Domestic Violence

20         Trust Fund; providing for certain disbursements

21         in accordance with specified provisions

22         relating to funding of domestic violence

23         centers;
