  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act providing for the relief of James H.

  3         Scott, former employee of the Florida

  4         Department of Law Enforcement; providing an

  5         appropriation to compensate him for injuries

  6         and damages he sustained as the result of an

  7         on-duty helicopter crash; providing an

  8         effective date.

10         WHEREAS, James H. Scott, a resident of Jefferson County

11  and a former employee of the Florida Department of Law

12  Enforcement, has suffered permanent and total disability as

13  the result of an on-duty helicopter crash, and

14         WHEREAS, Mr. Scott's lifetime medical needs, surgeries,

15  etc. are projected to cost $2 million, NOW, THEREFORE,

16

17  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

18

19         Section 1.  The facts stated in the preamble to this

20  act are found and declared to be true.

21         Section 2.  The Legislature hereby appropriates the sum

22  of $2 million from the General Revenue Fund to be paid to

23  James H. Scott as relief for his losses.

24         Section 3.  The Comptroller is directed to draw his

25  warrant in favor of James H. Scott in the sum of $2 million

26  from the General Revenue Fund and the State Treasurer is

27  directed to pay the same.

28         Section 4.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

29  law.
