17 Section 2. The Secretary of the Department of Health
18 shall appoint a task force to conduct a study regarding the
19 administration of immunizations by pharmacists. The task force
20 shall consist of 15 members as follows: the secretary or the
21 secretary's designee; one physician licensed under chapter
22 458, Florida Statutes, and recommended by the Florida Medical
23 Association; one family physician licensed under chapter 458,
24 Florida Statutes, and recommended by the Florida Academy of
25 Family Physicians; one osteopathic physician licensed under
26 chapter 459, Florida Statutes, and recommended by the Florida
27 Osteopathic Medical Association; one pharmacist licensed under
28 chapter 465, Florida Statutes, and recommended by the Florida
29 Pharmacy Association; one pharmacist licensed under chapter
30 465, Florida Statutes, and recommended by the Florida Society
31 of Health System Pharmacists; the dean of the medical school

2 of the pharmacy school of the University of Florida or his or
3 her designee; the dean of the school of osteopathic medicine
4 of Nova Southeastern University or his or her designee; the
5 dean of the pharmacy school of Nova Southeastern University or
6 his or her designee; the dean of the school of pharmacy of
7 Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University or his or her
8 designee; the dean of the medical school of the University of
9 South Florida or his or her designee; the dean of the school
10 of medicine of the University of Miami or his or her designee;
11 one consumer residing in Florida and recommended by the
12 American Association of Retired Persons; and one consumer
13 residing in Florida and recommended by Legal Services of
14 Florida, Inc. The task force shall evaluate issues of
15 availability of immunizations, patient safety, training of
16 pharmacists, and any supervisory requirements. Staffing for
17 the task force shall be provided by the Department of Health.
18 No later than December 31, 1999, the task force shall submit a
19 report regarding its study, including any recommended
20 legislation, to the Governor, the President of the Senate, the
21 Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the respective
22 minority leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives.
