  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the re-creation of the

  3         Firefighters' Supplemental Compensation Trust

  4         Fund without modification; re-creating the

  5         Firefighters' Supplemental Compensation Trust

  6         Fund; carrying forward current balances and

  7         continuing current sources and uses thereof;

  8         providing an effective date.

10         WHEREAS, the Legislature wishes to extend the life of

11  the Firefighters' Supplemental Compensation Trust Fund, which

12  is otherwise scheduled to be terminated pursuant to

13  constitutional mandate, and

14         WHEREAS, the Legislature has reviewed the Firefighters'

15  Supplemental Compensation Trust Fund before its scheduled

16  termination date and has found that it continues to meet an

17  important public purpose, and

18         WHEREAS, the Legislature has found that existing public

19  policy concerning the Firefighters' Supplemental Compensation

20  Trust Fund sets adequate parameters for its use, NOW,

21  THEREFORE,

23  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

24

25         Section 1.  (1)  The Firefighters' Supplemental

26  Compensation Trust Fund within the Department of Revenue,

27  FLAIR number 73-2-290, which was created by section 633.382,

28  Florida Statutes, and which is to be terminated pursuant to

29  Section 19(f), Article III of the State Constitution on

30  November 4, 2000, is re-created.

  1         (2)  All current balances of the trust fund are carried

  2  forward, and all current sources and uses of the trust fund

  3  are continued.

  4         Section 2.  This act shall take effect November 4,

  5  2000.
