  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the re-creation of the

  3         Florida Academic Improvement Trust Fund for

  4         Community Colleges without modification;

  5         re-creating the Florida Academic Improvement

  6         Trust Fund; carrying forward current balances

  7         and continuing current sources and uses

  8         thereof; providing an effective date.

  9

10         WHEREAS, the Legislature wishes to extend the life of

11  the Florida Academic Improvement Trust Fund for Community

12  Colleges, which is otherwise scheduled to be terminated

13  pursuant to constitutional mandate, and

14         WHEREAS, the Legislature has reviewed the Florida

15  Academic Improvement Trust Fund before its scheduled

16  termination date and has found that it continues to meet an

17  important public purpose, and

18         WHEREAS, the Legislature has found that existing public

19  policy concerning the Florida Academic Improvement Trust Fund

20  for Community Colleges sets adequate parameters for its use,

21  NOW, THEREFORE,

23  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

24

25         Section 1.  (1)  The Florida Academic Improvement Trust

26  Fund for Community Colleges within the Department of

27  Education, FLAIR number 48-2-297, which was created by section

28  240.36, Florida Statutes, and which is to be terminated

29  pursuant to Section 19(f), Article III of the State

30  Constitution on November 4, 2000, is re-created.

  1         (2)  All current balances of the trust fund are carried

  2  forward, and all current sources and uses of the trust fund

  3  are continued.

  4         Section 2.  This act shall take effect November 4,

  5  2000.
