  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Florida Civil Rights

  3         Act; amending s. 760.02, F.S.; redefining the

  4         term "employer"; providing an effective date.

  6  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  7

  8         Section 1.  Subsection (7) of section 760.02, Florida

  9  Statutes, is amended to read:

10         760.02  Definitions.--For the purposes of ss.

11  760.01-760.11 and 509.092, the term:

12         (7)  "Employer" means any person employing one 15 or

13  more employees for each working day in each of 20 or more

14  calendar weeks in the current or preceding calendar year, and

15  any agent of such a person.

16         Section 2.  This act shall take effect October 1, 1999.

19                          SENATE SUMMARY

20    Redefines the term "employer" to mean any person
      employing one or more employees, rather than 15 or more
21    employees, for purposes of the Florida Civil Rights Act.
