  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to vessel registration;

  3         amending s. 327.25, F.S.; revising exemptions

  4         to vessel registration requirements; providing

  5         an effective date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8

  9         Section 1.  Subsection (15) of section 327.25, Florida

10  Statutes, is amended to read:

11         327.25  Classification; registration; fees and charges;

12  surcharge; disposition of fees; fines; marine turtle

13  stickers.--

14         (15)  EXEMPTIONS.--Vessels owned and operated by Sea

15  Explorer or Sea Scout units of the Boy Scouts of America, the

16  Girl Scouts of America, the Florida Association of Christian

17  Child Caring Agencies Safe Harbor Haven, Inc., or the

18  Associated Marine Institutes, Inc., and its affiliates, or

19  which are antique vessels as defined in paragraph (2)(a) are

20  exempt from the provisions of subsection (1).  Such vessels

21  shall be issued certificates of registration and numbers upon

22  application and payment of the service fee provided in

23  subsection (7).

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1999.

28    Revises exemptions to vessel registration requirements.
      Deletes an exemption for vessels owned and operated by
29    the Safe Harbor Haven, Inc., and creates an exemption for
      vessels owned and operated by the Florida Association of
30    Christian Child Caring Agencies, Inc.
