  2         An act relating to the Health Facilities

  3         Authorities Law; amending s. 154.209, F.S.;

  4         revising language with respect to the power of

  5         the authority concerning an accounts receivable

  6         program; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Subsection (18) of section 154.209, Florida

11  Statutes, 1998 Supplement, is amended to read:

12         154.209  Powers of authority.--The purpose of the

13  authority shall be to assist health facilities in the

14  acquisition, construction, financing, and refinancing of

15  projects in any corporated or unincorporated area within the

16  geographical limits of the local agency.  For this purpose,

17  the authority is authorized and empowered:

18         (18)  To participate in and issue bonds and other forms

19  of indebtedness for the purpose of establishing and

20  maintaining an accounts receivable program on behalf of a

21  health facility or group of health facilities. Notwithstanding

22  any other provisions of this part, the structuring and

23  financing of an accounts receivable program pursuant to this

24  subsection shall constitute a project and may be structured

25  for the benefit of health facilities within or outside the

26  geographical limits of the local agency. An accounts

27  receivable program may include the financing of accounts

28  receivable acquired by a health facility from other

29  not-for-profit health care corporations health facilities,

30  whether or not controlled by or affiliated with the health

  1  facility and regardless of location within or outside the

  2  geographical limits of this state.

  3         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

  4  law.
