14         On page 56 between lines 21 and 22,

16  insert:

17         3.  To assist schools in being successful, schools that

18  have been designated in performance grade categories "D" or

19  "F" shall be required to develop partnerships with

20  private-sector entities to improve student performance through

21  programs focusing on intensive academic intervention for

22  students and professional development for teachers. Schools

23  should select private-sector partners who have demonstrated

24  successful research-based strategies to improve student

25  performance on basic skills and standardized tests.
