  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to postsecondary education;

  3         creating s. 240.64, F.S.; authorizing a college

  4         of law under the auspices of Florida

  5         Agricultural and Mechanical University;

  6         providing authority to accept grants and other

  7         available funds; providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Section 240.64, Florida Statutes, is

12  created to read:

13         240.64  College of law under the auspices of Florida

14  Agricultural and Mechanical University.--

15         (1)  A college of law is hereby authorized under the

16  auspices of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.

17         (2)  The college of law under the auspices of Florida

18  Agricultural and Mechanical University shall be so maintained

19  and operated as to comply with the standards approved by

20  nationally recognized associations for accredited colleges of

21  law.

22         (3)  The Board of Regents is authorized to commence the

23  planning of a college of law under the auspices of Florida

24  Agricultural and Mechanical University.  In planning the

25  college of law, the Board of Regents and the State Board of

26  Education are authorized to accept grants, donations, gifts,

27  and moneys which might accrue for such purposes, including

28  moneys for planning and construction of such a college.  The

29  Board of Regents is further authorized to procure and accept

30  any federal funds which may be available for the planning,

  1  creation, and establishment of a college of law under the

  2  auspices of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.

  3         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

  4  law.
