8 election for officers of Hialeah County;

11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13 Section 1. Section 7.275, Florida Statutes, is created
14 to read:
15 7.275 Hialeah County.--The boundary lines of Hialeah
16 County are as follows:

18 Beginning at the southeast corner of Section 20, Township 53
19 South, Range 41 East, run 660 feet northwardly along the east
20 line of such Section 20 to a point, such point being the Point
21 of Beginning. From the Point of Beginning run northwardly
22 along the east line of Section 20, such east line of Section
23 20 also being the west line of Section 21, Township 53 South,
24 Range 41 East, to the southwest corner of the northwest

15 Section 3. All real property the title to which is
16 vested in Dade County and which is located within the area
17 comprising Hialeah County is transferred to Hialeah County on
18 the effective date of this act. Personal property the title to
19 which is vested in Dade County is transferred to Hialeah
20 County on the effective date of this act in an amount equal to
21 the proportion which the assessed value of taxable property in
22 the area comprising Hialeah County bears to the assessed value
23 of taxable property in Dade County as of the previous January
24 1. Hialeah County shall assume responsibility for the
25 obligations of Dade County which exist on the effective date
26 of this act in an amount equal to the proportion which the
27 assessed value of taxable property in the area comprising
28 Hialeah County bears to the assessed value of taxable property
29 in Dade County as of the previous January 1.
30 Section 4. Notwithstanding any other provision of law,
31 the Board of County Commissioners of Dade County shall call

1 and hold special elections that coincide with the 2000 primary
2 and general elections at which officers for Hialeah County
3 shall be selected. The Board of County Commissioners of
4 Hialeah County shall reimburse Dade County for any costs of
5 conducting the election required by this section which are in
6 excess of the costs that would otherwise be incurred. Electors
7 of the area comprising Hialeah County are eligible to vote in
8 such elections.
9 Section 5. Except for this section and section 4,
10 which shall take effect upon becoming a law, this act shall
11 take effect November 7, 2000.

15 Creates Hialeah County out of present Dade County and
redefines the territory encompassing Dade County.
16 Provides for election of officers of the new county and
for assumption of certain of Dade County's assets and
17 obligations by Hialeah County.
