  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to health care contracts;

  3         amending s. 627.419, F.S.; requiring certain

  4         health insurance policies to pay for the

  5         services of advanced registered nurse

  6         practitioners; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Subsection (9) is added to section 627.419,

11  Florida Statutes, to read:

12         627.419  Construction of policies.--

13         (9) Any health insurance policy that provides for

14  payment for services performed by a physician licensed under

15  chapter 458 or chapter 459, which services may be legally

16  performed by licensed advanced registered nurse practitioners,

17  shall be construed as providing for payment of such services

18  if performed by a licensed advanced registered nurse

19  practitioner. Services of an advanced registered nurse

20  practitioner must be performed in accordance with protocols

21  and under physician medical supervision or on-site medical

22  direction as required by ss. 464.012 and 395.0191.

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

24  law.

28    Provides that health insurance policies that provide
      certain benefits must pay for the services of advanced
29    registered nurse practitioners.
