  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution commending the Freemasons and

  3         Jacque A. Couture for their contributions to

  4         the citizens of the state.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, Freemasonry began in medieval times and has

  7  been organized since the 18th century, and

  8         WHEREAS, Freemasonry was transplanted to the American

  9  colonies by English and Irish masons during the early decades

10  of the 18th century, and

11         WHEREAS, Jacque A. Couture was born in Orlando on March

12  21, 1936, graduated from that city's Boone High School, served

13  in the United States Army Reserves from 1953 to 1959, and is

14  now Chairman of the Board of A-1 Orange Cleaning Service, a

15  company which, inherited as a one-man business when he was 15,

16  he has expanded to include 13 office locations in Florida and

17  Georgia, and

18         WHEREAS, having been raised in Composite Lodge No. 293,

19  in Orlando, in 1972, Jacque A. Couture has continued to serve

20  as a member and officer in numerous areas of Freemasonry, with

21  a special emphasis on Masonic Youth and DeMolay, and on June

22  17, 1998, he was installed as Grand Master of The Most

23  Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Florida,

24  and

25         WHEREAS, married and the father of two sons and two

26  daughters, Jacque A. Couture counts among his hobbies his

27  family, his church, Masonry, golf, and fishing, while

28  continuing to be active in his business and in service to his

29  community and state, and

30         WHEREAS, Jacque A. Couture, Grand Master of Masons of

31  Florida, serves as a leader to tens of thousands of Florida

  1  Freemasons, as well as hundreds of thousands from around the

  2  world who sojourn in our state, and

  3         WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the House

  4  of Representatives of the State of Florida pause in its

  5  deliberations to honor the Freemasons and Jacque A. Couture

  6  for their contributions to the state, NOW, THEREFORE,

  7

  8  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

  9  Florida:

10

11         That the House of Representatives of the State of

12  Florida hereby commends the Freemasons of Florida and Jacque

13  A. Couture for their contributions to the citizens of this

14  state and hereby accords this expression in recognition and

15  appreciation of the invaluable service thus rendered to the

16  state.

17         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

18  be presented to Jacque A. Couture, Grand Master of Florida of

19  the Order of Freemasons, as a tangible token of the sentiments

20  expressed herein.
