  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution expressing affection for and

  3         gratitude to all fathers.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, Sunday, June 20, 1999, has been designated as

  6  Father's Day in the United States, and

  7         WHEREAS, the greatest education in honesty, decency,

  8  integrity, industry, and fidelity is to see these qualities

  9  embodied in the life and works of a parent, and

10         WHEREAS, the American tradition of a productive society

11  and a secure home depends in great part on the hard work and

12  sacrifice of fathers who tirelessly seek for their children a

13  better life and greater opportunity than they knew, and

14         WHEREAS, fulfilling the demanding roles of fatherhood,

15  as provider, teacher, role model, comforter, and protector, is

16  an act of true heroism in today's world, and

17         WHEREAS, each new generation looks to its fathers for

18  courage, strength, and understanding, and

19         WHEREAS, the enduring affection between a father and

20  his family is recognized and appreciated as one of the most

21  positive elements upon which our future as a nation depends,

22  and

23         WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the members

24  and staff of the House of Representatives recognize the

25  immeasurable debt of gratitude owed to fathers for their

26  strength, guidance, understanding, and love, NOW, THEREFORE,

27

28  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

29  Florida:

  1         That the members of the House of Representatives do

  2  hereby express to their own fathers and to all fathers, on

  3  behalf of the citizens of the State of Florida, deep personal

  4  affection and abiding gratitude.

  5         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread

  6  upon the Journal of the House of Representatives as a tangible

  7  token of the love and respect that the members hold for all

  8  fathers.
