  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing the accomplishments of

  3         Hanley-Hazelden Center at St. Mary's and the

  4         Hazelden Foundation.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, Hanley-Hazelden Center at St. Mary's, a

  7  nonprofit organization in West Palm Beach, Florida, is

  8  dedicated to building recovery in the lives of individuals,

  9  families, and communities affected by alcoholism, drug

10  dependency, and related diseases, and

11         WHEREAS, since 1983, Hanley-Hazelden Center at St.

12  Mary's has provided prevention services, residential and

13  outpatient treatment, programs for families affected by

14  chemical dependency, and training for a variety of

15  individuals, and

16         WHEREAS, Hanley-Hazelden Center at St. Mary's is

17  affiliated with the Hazelden Foundation, which was founded in

18  1949 in St. Paul, Minnesota, has been a leader in the

19  treatment of alcoholism and substance abuse for the past 50

20  years, and is known as the world's premier publisher of

21  information on alcoholism, drug addiction, and related areas,

22  and

23         WHEREAS, to improve treatment efforts and better

24  communicate treatment results, Hanley-Hazelden Center at St.

25  Mary's and the Hazelden Foundation are currently conducting

26  research projects on the milestones of recovery from chemical

27  dependency, and developing objective descriptions of these

28  milestones, and

29         WHEREAS, the Hazelden Foundation and its affiliates

30  deserve to be recognized and commended for the outstanding

31  services they have provided to people from all walks of life

  2  related diseases, NOW, THEREFORE,

  4  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

  5  Florida:

  6

  7         That the Florida House of Representatives hereby

  8  commends the Hazelden Foundation and its affiliates, including

  9  Hanley-Hazelden Center at St. Mary's in West Palm Beach,

10  Florida, for their outstanding dedication and significant

11  accomplishments in the area of chemical dependency, and

12  accords this expression of appreciation together with wishes

13  for continued success in their exemplary endeavors.

14         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

15  be presented to Hanley-Hazelden Center at St. Mary's as a

16  tangible token of the sentiments expressed herein.
