2 A resolution designating April 11, 1999, as
3 "Submarine Sailors Day."

5 WHEREAS, all men and women who have so proudly served
6 their country in the uniform of the United States Armed Forces
7 are deserving of the gratitude and appreciation of all
8 Americans, and
9 WHEREAS, veterans from all branches of our Armed Forces
10 have contributed so meaningfully to our national defense and
11 have helped to preserve our freedom here at home, and
12 WHEREAS, among the many organizations representing the
13 various branches of our Armed Forces, the United States
14 Submarine Veterans represent a special and dedicated group of
15 sailors who have bravely served their nation, and
16 WHEREAS, American military personnel serving aboard
17 submarines perform a uniquely rigorous type of military
18 service which involves long periods of isolation and
19 confinement, requires tremendous discipline, endurance, and
20 self-control, and which places them in frequent danger, and
21 WHEREAS, it is important and appropriate that the
22 citizens of the State of Florida recognize and commend all
23 United States submarine sailors, past and present, for their
24 accomplishments and their supreme devotion to duty, NOW,
25 THEREFORE,

27 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
28 Florida:

30 That the Florida House of Representatives hereby
31 designates April 11, 1999, as "Submarine Sailors Day" in
