  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution proclaiming 1999 as the 100th

  3         Anniversary Year of the Veterans of Foreign

  4         Wars of the United States.

  6         WHEREAS, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United

  7  States traces its roots back to 1899, and

  8         WHEREAS, veterans of the Spanish-American War and the

  9  Philippine Insurrection founded local organizations to secure

10  rights and benefits for their service, and

11         WHEREAS, several local veterans organizations united

12  under the banner, the "Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United

13  States," and

14         WHEREAS, service to protect the freedoms we all enjoy

15  came at the price of sacrifice, hardship, endurance,

16  dedication, bravery, courage, and the highest level of

17  patriotism, and

18         WHEREAS, Veterans of Foreign Wars posts throughout

19  Florida and the United States are recognizing the 100th

20  anniversary of the establishment of the Veterans of Foreign

21  Wars, NOW, THEREFORE,

23  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

24  Florida:

26         That 1999 be proclaimed the 100th Anniversary Year of

27  the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
