  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution proclaiming the week of June 24,

  3         1999, as the Workers' Right to Organize Week.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, Federal law protects employees' rights to form

  6  or join a union, and

  7         WHEREAS, unions provide employees with a voice on the

  8  job, and

  9         WHEREAS, unions encourage better benefits and greater

10  job security for union workers, and

11         WHEREAS, unionized employees generally earn more than

12  their non-union counterparts and contribute to the economic

13  vitality of our communities, and

14         WHEREAS, unions have contributed to the growth of

15  democracy, the well-being of America's working families, and

16  our communities generally, NOW, THEREFORE,

18  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

19  Florida:

20

21         That the House of Representatives of the State of

22  Florida joins the AFL-CIO in proclaiming the week of June 24,

23  1999, as the Workers' Right to Organize Week in Florida.

24         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

25  be presented to the Florida AFL-CIO as a tangible token of the

26  sentiments expressed herein.
