  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing the four Tallahassee

  3         members of the USA Gymnastics National Teams.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, four gymnasts of the Gym Force Athletic

  6  Training Center of Tallahassee have been chosen as members of

  7  USA Gymnastics National Teams, an accomplishment that entitles

  8  them and their coaches to train at the Olympic Training Center

  9  in Colorado Springs, and

10         WHEREAS, Shannon Carrion, a senior student at Florida

11  State University School, is one of the 8-member 1998-1999

12  Men's Junior Elite Team, made up of youth 16 through 18 years

13  of age, and

14         WHEREAS, Lawton Hill, a freshman honor student at Leon

15  High School, is the All-Around Junior Olympic National

16  Champion, Pommel Horse Champion, Class 3, and is a member of

17  the 14-man 1998-1999 Men's Junior National Team, and

18         WHEREAS, Brian Clark, 14, who is home schooled, is also

19  one of the 14 members of the 1998-1999 Men's Junior National

20  Team, and

21         WHEREAS, Garrett Barber, a seventh grader at Raa Middle

22  School, is on the 10-member 1998 Future Stars National Team,

23  and

24         WHEREAS, these national team members spend a minimum of

25  15 hours over 5 days a week training under the direction of

26  their coaches, Jim Hisey, Kevin Standriff, and Brian Mosier,

27  all graduates of Florida State University, and it is

28  appropriate that they be recognized for their commitment and

29  hard work, NOW, THEREFORE,

  1  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

  2  Florida:

  4         That the House of Representatives pause in its

  5  deliberations to congratulate Shannon Carrion, Lawton Hill,

  6  Brian Clark, and Garrett Barber for their attainment as

  7  national team members of the USA Gymnastics Program and to

  8  wish them well in their future competitions.

  9         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

10  be presented to each of these team members and to each of

11  their coaches.
