2 A resolution in recognition of Bishop Vaughn
3 Monroe McLaughlin.

5 WHEREAS, Vaughn Monroe McLaughlin was born on April 20,
6 1957, and
7 WHEREAS, raised and educated in Jacksonville, Florida,
8 Vaughn Monroe McLaughlin began his pastoral training in 1984
9 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and accepted his
10 first pastorate in 1987 in Green Cove Springs, Florida, and
11 WHEREAS, Vaughn Monroe McLaughlin obtained a Master's
12 Degree and a Doctorate in Theology from North Florida
13 Theological Seminary, and a Master of Ministry Degree from
14 Logos Bible College, and
15 WHEREAS, in 1988, Vaughn Monroe McLaughlin began what
16 is now a worldwide ministry known as the Potter's House
17 Christian Fellowship, and
18 WHEREAS, this ministry reaches people via weekly
19 television broadcasts, daily radio broadcasts, and numerous
20 outreach ministries, including jail and prison visitation
21 programs, nursing home and community outreach ministries, and
22 a Christian Academy, and
23 WHEREAS, beginning with approximately 50 members, the
24 ministry now has a membership of over 2,000, and the Christian
25 Academy has a current enrollment of over 300 students, and
26 WHEREAS, following years of mentoring other pastors,
27 Bishop-Elect Vaughn Monroe McLaughlin was appointed to the
28 office of Bishop on March 6, 1999, by Chief Prelate and
29 Presiding Bishop Donald Hilliard, Jr., of the Covenant
30 Ecumenical Fellowship and Cathedral Assemblies, and

1 WHEREAS, along with Bishop Hilliard, Bishop McLaughlin
2 serves as covering pastor for 18 other churches, and
3 WHEREAS, Bishop McLaughlin presently serves as
4 vice-chairman of the Jacksonville Pastors and Christian
5 Leaders Fellowship, president of the local campus of Logos
6 Christian College, board member of Gateway Community Services,
7 a substance abuse treatment center, Chairman of the Board of
8 Impact House, a rehabilitation center for convicted teens,
9 board member of television station ACTS, and board member of
10 Prisoners of Christ Ministries, and
11 WHEREAS, Bishop McLaughlin has also served as chapel
12 speaker for the Jacksonville Jaguars and other National
13 Football League teams, and
14 WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the Florida
15 House of Representatives recognize Bishop Vaughn Monroe
16 McLaughlin, NOW, THEREFORE,

18 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
19 Florida:

21 That the House of Representatives of the State of
22 Florida hereby recognizes Bishop Vaughn Monroe McLaughlin for
23 his many years of dedicated service and ministry to the people
24 of North Florida.
25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
26 be presented to Bishop Vaughn Monroe McLaughlin as a tangible
27 token of the sentiments expressed herein.
