  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution commending the Florida A & M

  3         University brain bowl squad for winning the

  4         1999 Honda Campus All-Star Challenge National

  5         Championship.

  6

  7         WHEREAS, the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge National

  8  Championship Tournament held in Washington, D.C., March 11-15,

  9  1999, a national brain bowl competition among the nation's 64

10  historically black colleges and universities, was won by the

11  squad from Florida A & M University, and

12         WHEREAS, this was Florida A & M University's second win

13  in a row and its fourth win overall, with those previous

14  victories coming in 1991, 1996, and 1998, and

15         WHEREAS, the continuing success of Florida A & M

16  University in this national brain bowl competition has

17  established the university firmly among the nation's elite

18  historically black colleges and universities, and

19         WHEREAS, the 1999 National Champion Florida A & M

20  University brain bowl squad consisted of captain Daniel Dye,

21  co-captain Julian Bryant, and members Kellie Hayes, Angela

22  Milton, and Natalie Tindall and was coached by Dr. Vivian

23  Hobbs, and

24         WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the Florida

25  A & M University squad and their coach be commended for this

26  stellar example of academic excellence, NOW, THEREFORE,

28  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

29  Florida:

  1         That the members of the Florida A & M University brain

  2  bowl squad, Daniel Dye, Julian Bryant, Kellie Hayes, Angela

  3  Milton, and Natalie Tindall, and their coach, Dr. Vivian

  4  Hobbs, are hereby commended for winning the 1999 Honda Campus

  5  All-Star Challenge National Championship, not only for the

  6  honor that accomplishment brings to themselves, but also for

  7  the honor it brings to Florida A & M University and the State

  8  of Florida.

  9         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

10  be presented to Dr. Vivian Hobbs, on behalf of the squad and

11  university, as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed

12  herein.
