2 A resolution in recognition of Jim Moran and
3 Pat Moran.

5 WHEREAS, in 1952, Fortune Magazine published a feature
6 on Chairman and Founder of JM Family Enterprises, Jim Moran,
7 as a Chicago businessman who discovered that television could
8 be to his brand of salesmanship what mass production was to
9 automobiles, and
10 WHEREAS, forty-seven years later, Fortune Magazine once
11 again featured Jim Moran in its publication, this time as an
12 example of the benefits to be derived by entrepreneurs when
13 they make the choice to put forth exceptional effort in
14 support of those who work for them, and
15 WHEREAS, in an article in the January 11, 1999, issue
16 of Fortune Magazine, JM Family Enterprises was designated as
17 one of the "100 Best Companies to Work for in America," and
18 WHEREAS, JM Family Enterprises is the only Florida
19 company listed in the top 50 of the "100 Best Companies to
20 Work for in America," and
21 WHEREAS, JM Family Enterprises is a diversified
22 automotive company headquartered in Deerfield Beach, whose
23 principal businesses focus on vehicle distribution and
24 processing, finance and warranty services, and insurance
25 activities, and
26 WHEREAS, its flagship company, Southeast Toyota
27 Distributors, is the nation's largest franchised distributor
28 of Toyota vehicles, and
29 WHEREAS, other JM Family Enterprises core companies
30 include: World Omni Financial Corporation, offering a complete
31 range of customer-driven automotive financial products and

1 services; JM&A Group, providing warranty and insurance
2 products and services to automobile dealerships throughout the
3 country; Petro Chemical Products, manufacturers of automotive
4 aerosol and liquid fill products; and JM Lexus, the largest
5 volume retail dealership of Lexus cars in the country, and
6 WHEREAS, at 80 years of age, Mr. Moran and his
7 daughter, Pat Moran, President and CEO of JM Family
8 Enterprises, continue to provide a working environment for
9 their 3,000 associates that engenders intense loyalty and
10 produces envied results, and
11 WHEREAS, JM Family Enterprises has succeeded in
12 becoming a $5.5 billion company through the strength of its
13 associates and the adherence to the Moran family philosophy
14 that "associates are our most important asset," and
15 WHEREAS, JM Family Enterprises is extremely proud of
16 being selected as one of the "100 Best Companies to Work for
17 in America" by Fortune Magazine, and
18 WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the
19 Legislature of the State of Florida recognize Jim Moran, Pat
20 Moran, and JM Family Enterprises for this laudable measure of
21 excellence in the business world, NOW, THEREFORE,

23 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
24 Florida:

26 That the House of Representatives of the State of
27 Florida hereby recognizes Jim Moran, Pat Moran, and JM Family
28 Enterprises and offers its congratulations on the selection of
29 JM Family Enterprises as one of the "100 Best Companies to
30 Work for in America" by Fortune Magazine.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
