  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution honoring the Deerfield Beach High

  3         School Boys Basketball Team's second State

  4         Class Championship.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, Deerfield Beach High School is a respected and

  7  venerable secondary school in Broward County, and

  8         WHEREAS, Deerfield Beach High School won the 1999 6A

  9  state basketball championship and the 1997 5A state basketball

10  championship, and

11         WHEREAS, Coach Melvin Randall inspired in his team the

12  will to win two state championships, and

13         WHEREAS, the Deerfield Beach Bucks and Ely Tigers

14  entered the state championship game as the first all-Broward

15  final in the 78 year history of the tournament, and

16         WHEREAS, Ely High School compiled a record of 28 wins

17  and 6 losses with all but one loss coming from archrival

18  Deerfield Beach High School, and

19         WHEREAS, Deerfield Beach Bucks senior Julius Jenkins

20  scored 35 points in the championship game which ended with a

21  final score of 77-69, NOW, THEREFORE,

23  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

24  Florida:

26         That the Florida House of Representatives hereby

27  commends Coach Melvin Randall, Assistant Coaches Demetrius

28  Givens, and Mitch Heater, Principal Dr. Joe Melita, Athletic

29  Director Bill Caruso, and the entire boys' basketball team of

30  Deerfield Beach High School for their remarkable achievement

31  of two state titles, and expresses its sincere admiration of
