2 A resolution in recognition of Winn-Dixie
3 Stores, Inc., for its many community service
4 endeavors.

6 WHEREAS, founded in 1925, Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc.,
7 currently operates 1,168 stores and employs 139,000
8 associates, with 22 manufacturing facilities and sales of
9 $13.6 billion, and
10 WHEREAS, an integral part of Winn-Dixie's success is a
11 commitment to a variety of efforts in service to communities
12 throughout Florida, and
13 WHEREAS, Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc., has presented Good
14 Citizenship Awards, along with more than $6.3 million, to
15 hundreds of civic, youth, service, and educational
16 organizations, and
17 WHEREAS, Winn-Dixie Stores Foundation contributed over
18 $4.4 million to community organizations, including $2 million
19 in associate matching grants, with individual stores giving
20 another $2.1 million in financial aid and in-kind
21 contributions, and
22 WHEREAS, Winn-Dixie Jacksonville sponsored "Drive for
23 Meals," a golf tournament held to support the Meals on Wheels
24 program, and
25 WHEREAS, among the many charities, community service
26 organizations and programs, educational institutions, and
27 other institutions receiving Winn-Dixie Good Citizenship
28 Awards in the Jacksonville Division are: Alpha & Omega
29 Miracle Home; the American Red Cross; Angelwood; the Arts
30 Council of Greater Palatka, Inc.; Asian House; the Baptist
31 Association for Special Children & Adults; Betty Griffin

28 WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the Florida
29 House of Representatives recognizes Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc.,

2 NOW, THEREFORE,

4 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
5 Florida:

7 That the House of Representatives of the State of
8 Florida hereby recognizes Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc., for its
9 many community service endeavors.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
11 be transmitted to Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc., as a tangible token
12 of the sentiments expressed herein.
