  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution commending Rebecca Neal Owens for

  3         her accomplishments.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, Rebecca Neal Owens was born 95 years ago in

  6  Chestertown, Maryland, and

  7         WHEREAS, Rebecca Neal Owens graduated from Washington

  8  College in 1925, and

  9         WHEREAS, before moving to Port Charlotte in 1976,

10  Rebecca Neal Owens retired after teaching for 35 years, and

11         WHEREAS, Rebecca Neal Owens has served as vice

12  president for the Port Charlotte Civic Association, as vice

13  president of the Welcome Wagon Club, as a member of the board

14  of directors for the American Red Cross, as chairperson of the

15  Charlotte County Advisory Council on Aging, and as a member of

16  the University Club and the American Association of University

17  Women, and

18         WHEREAS, Rebecca Neal Owens was selected for the Eckerd

19  Award and received a citation from Washington College for

20  outstanding achievement, and

21         WHEREAS, Rebecca Neal Owens speaks often on the subject

22  of the needs of the elderly and other important issues of the

23  day, NOW, THEREFORE,

25  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

26  Florida:

27

28         That the House of Representatives of the State of

29  Florida hereby commends Rebecca Neal Owens for her

30  accomplishments, good citizenship, and service to the State of

31  Florida.
