11  Senator Sullivan moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 36, line 14, through

15            page 37, line 7, delete those lines

16

17  and insert:

18         Section 24.  Subsection (2) of section 470.017, Florida

19  Statutes, is amended, and subsection (5) is added to that

20  section, to read:

21         470.017  Registration as a direct disposer.--

22         (2)  Any person who desires to be registered as a

23  direct disposer shall file an application with the department

24  on a form furnished by the department. The department shall

25  register each applicant who has remitted a registration fee

26  set by the board department, not to exceed $200; has completed

27  the application form and remitted a nonrefundable application

28  fee set by the board department, not to exceed $50; and meets

29  the following requirements:

30         (a)  Is at least 18 years of age.

31         (b)  Is a high school graduate or equivalent.

 1         (c)  Has no conviction or finding of guilt, and has

 2  never entered a plea of nolo contendere, regardless of

 3  adjudication, for a crime which directly relates to the

 4  functions and duties of a direct disposer or the ability to

 5  practice of direct disposition.

 6         (d)  Has received a passing grade in a college credit

 7  course in Florida mortuary law.

 8         (e)  Has completed a board-approved course on

 9  communicable diseases.

10         (f)  Has passed an examination prepared by the

11  department on the local, state, and federal laws and rules

12  relating to the disposition of dead human bodies.

13         (5)  After June 30, 2001, a person may not be

14  registered pursuant to this section. However, any person who

15  holds a valid registration on June 30, 2001, may continue to

16  renew such registration pursuant to s. 470.018 if the

17  registrant remains current and in good standing.
