1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the Secretary of State;
3 creating s. 15.0465, F.S.; authorizing the
4 Secretary of State to designate certain sailing
5 vessels with historic significance as official
6 state flagships; providing an effective date.

8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10 Section 1. Section 15.0465, Florida Statutes, is
11 created to read:
12 15.0465 Vessel of historic significance.--The
13 Secretary of State is authorized to designate, via
14 proclamation, a sailing vessel as a vessel with historic
15 significance to the state. In order to achieve such
16 designation:
17 (1) The vessel must have been substantially
18 constructed, restored, or maintained within the state.
19 (2) The hailing port for such vessel must be a
20 political subdivision of the state.
21 (3) The vessel must be seaworthy at the time of such
22 designation.
23 (4) The vessel must have significantly contributed to
24 the commercial, trade, political, or societal heritage of the
25 state.
26 (5) The vessel must be on the National Register of
27 Historic Places.
28 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
29 law.

authority to designate a "vessel with historic significance."

Removes requirement that vessel must have first been launched
6 at least 60 years prior to designation.
