2 An act relating to homestead exemptions;
3 amending s. 196.011, F.S.; providing that a
4 specified part of an applicant's social
5 security number must be provided on
6 applications for certain exemptions; providing
7 an effective date.

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11 Section 1. Subsection (11) of section 196.011, Florida
12 Statutes, is amended to read:
13 196.011 Annual application required for exemption.--
14 (11) For exemptions enumerated in paragraph (1)(b),
15 granted for the 2000 tax year and thereafter, the last four
16 digits of the social security numbers of the applicant and the
17 applicant's spouse, if any, are required and must be submitted
18 to the department. Applications filed pursuant to subsection
19 (5) or subsection (6) may be required to include the last four
20 digits of the social security numbers of the applicant and the
21 applicant's spouse, if any, and shall include such information
22 if filed for the 2000 tax year or thereafter. For counties
23 where the annual application requirement has been waived,
24 property appraisers may require refiling of an application to
25 obtain such information.
26 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2000.
