11  The Committee on Criminal Justice recommended the following

12  amendment:

14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

15         On page 3, lines 3-9, delete those lines

16

17  and insert:

18         Section 2.  The Orange County Sheriff's Office is

19  authorized and directed to appropriate from funds of the

20  sheriff's office not otherwise appropriated and to draw a

21  warrant in the sum of $262,954 payable to Maria Garcia, as

22  legal guardian of Delfina Benjumea, to be placed in the

23  guardianship account of Delfina Benjumea, to compensate her

24  for injuries and damages sustained as a result of the

25  negligence of an employee of the Orange County Sheriff's

26  Office. Upon the death of Ms. Benjumea, any balance of the

27  $262,954 remaining in the guardianship account, shall revert

28  to the Orange County Sheriff's Office. It is the intent of the

29  Legislature that no funds appropriated herein be spent,

30  incurred, or obligated under the guardianship account for any

31  extraordinary expenditures without prior order of the circuit
