  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to road designations;

  3         designating a portion of State Road 87 in Santa

  4         Rosa County as the Bennett C. Russell Highway;

  5         directing the Department of Transportation to

  6         erect suitable markers; providing an effective

  7         date.

  8

  9         WHEREAS, Bennett C. Russell was the School

10  Superintendent of Santa Rosa County, who was respected

11  throughout the state for his dedication and vision as

12  superintendent, and

13         WHEREAS, Bennett C. Russell passed away in December of

14  1999, and will be sorely missed by all the residents of Santa

15  Rosa County who had come to know and respect him for his

16  service to the people of his community, NOW, THEREFORE,

17

18  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

19         Section 1.  Bennett C. Russell Highway designated;

20  Department of Transportation to erect suitable markers.--

21         (1) State Road 87 from the Alabama/Florida border to

22  U.S. Highway 98 in Santa Rosa County is hereby designated as

23  the "Bennett C. Russell Highway."

24         (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to

25  erect suitable markers designating the Bennett C. Russell

26  Highway as described in subsection (1).

27         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

28  law.
