  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to victim assistance; amending

  3         s. 960.0025, F.S.; providing for deposit of

  4         unclaimed or refused restitution or other

  5         court-ordered payments into the Department of

  6         Corrections' Operating Trust Fund; providing

  7         purposes of the moneys deposited; providing an

  8         effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  Section 960.0025, Florida Statutes, is

13  amended to read:

14         960.0025  Deposit Allocation of certain funds from

15  restitution or other court-ordered payments.--Effective April

16  17, 1993, The Department of Corrections shall, if it is unable

17  to locate the person or organization designated by the court

18  to receive the payment of restitution or other court-ordered

19  payment, or if the designated payee refuses to accept the

20  payment, direct that such funds collected from offenders be

21  deposited into the Department of Corrections' Operating Trust

22  Fund to be appropriated by the Legislature to fund victim's

23  assistance programs allocated to a direct-support

24  organization, as such organizations are authorized and

25  described in s. 960.002.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

27  law.
