1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to Palm Beach County;
3 increasing the maximum ad valorem millage rate
4 which the Children's Services Council of Palm
5 Beach County is authorized to levy; directing
6 the Board of County Commissioners to levy the
7 tax at the rate certified by the council;
8 requiring a referendum; providing an effective
9 date.

11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13 Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section
14 125.901, Florida Statutes, the Children's Services Council of
15 Palm Beach County is authorized to levy ad valorem taxes in an
16 amount not to exceed 1.0 mill of assessed valuation of all
17 properties within Palm Beach County which are subject to ad
18 valorem county taxes. The Board of County Commissioners of
19 Palm Beach County shall direct the levy of said additional tax
20 at the millage rate so certified by the Children's Services
21 Council of Palm Beach County.
22 Section 2. The provisions of section 1 which authorize
23 the levy of ad valorem taxation shall take effect only upon
24 the approval by a majority vote of the qualified electors of
25 Palm Beach County, as required by s. 9, Art. VII of the State
26 Constitution, voting in a referendum to be held by the Board
27 of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County in conjunction
28 with any subsequent regular primary or general election. The
29 specific regular primary or general election in which the
30 referendum is held shall be determined by the Children's
31 Services Council of Palm Beach County. Such election shall be

1 held in accordance with the provisions of law relating to
2 elections currently in force in Palm Beach County. If the
3 electors do not approve the levy of ad valorem taxation in the
4 referendum held pursuant to this section, no further
5 referendum may be held under this act.
6 Section 3. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
7 law.
