  2         An act relating to Palm Beach County;

  3         increasing the maximum ad valorem millage rate

  4         which the Children's Services Council of Palm

  5         Beach County is authorized to levy; providing

  6         that Chapter 200, Florida Statutes, applies to

  7         any tax levied; directing that the final

  8         millage rate must be applied in the same way as

  9         other ad valorem taxes; requiring a referendum;

10         providing an effective date.

12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13

14         Section 1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of section

15  125.901, Florida Statutes, the Children's Services Council of

16  Palm Beach County is authorized to levy ad valorem taxes in an

17  amount not to exceed 1.0 mill of assessed valuation of all

18  properties within Palm Beach County which are subject to ad

19  valorem county taxes.  Any such tax shall be levied pursuant

20  to the provisions of Chapter 200, Florida Statutes, with the

21  adopted budget and final millage rate being certified and

22  delivered by the Children's Services Council of Palm Beach

23  County to the county, to be assessed, collected, and enforced

24  in the same manner and at the same time as is provided by law

25  for the assessment, collection and enforcement of other ad

26  valorem taxes in Palm Beach County.

27         Section 2.  The provisions of section 1 which authorize

28  the levy of ad valorem taxation shall take effect only upon

29  the approval by a majority vote of the qualified electors of

30  Palm Beach County, as required by s. 9, Art. VII of the State

31  Constitution, voting in a referendum to be held by the Board

  1  of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County in conjunction

  2  with any subsequent regular primary or general election. The

  3  specific regular primary or general election in which the

  4  referendum is held shall be determined by the Children's

  5  Services Council of Palm Beach County. Such election shall be

  6  held in accordance with the provisions of law relating to

  7  elections currently in force in Palm Beach County. If the

  8  electors do not approve the levy of ad valorem taxation in the

  9  referendum held pursuant to this section, no further

10  referendum may be held under this act.

11         Section 3.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

12  law.
