11  Senator Horne moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 3, line 31, through

15            page 4, line 8, delete those lines

16

17  and insert:  applications after the FTE projection deadline.

18  In a further effort to facilitate an accurate

19  budget-projection process, within 15 calendar days after

20  receipt of a charter school application, a district school

21  board or other sponsor shall report to the Department of

22  Education the name of the applicant entity, the proposed

23  charter school location, and its projected FTE. A district

24  school board must by a majority vote approve or deny an

25  application no later than 60 days after the application is

26  received. If a school board fails to approve or deny the

27  charter application within 60 days, the application is deemed

28  approved. If an application is denied, the district school

29  board must, within 10 calendar days, articulate in writing the

30  specific reasons based upon good cause supporting its denial

31  of the charter application. For budget-projection purposes,

 4  denial. In the event of approval, the report to the Department

 5  of Education must include the final projected FTE for the

11         On page 1, line 4, after the semicolon,

13  insert:

14         requiring the district school board or other

15         sponsor of a charter school to make certain

16         reports to the Department of Education for

17         purposes of budget projections;
