1 Senate Resolution No.
2 A resolution commending the Freemasons and
3 Keith W. Dean for their contributions to this
4 state.

6 WHEREAS, Freemasonry began in medieval times and has
7 been organized since the 18th century, and
8 WHEREAS, Freemasonry was transplanted to the American
9 colonies by English and Irish Masons during the early decades
10 of the 18th century, and, as early as 1734, Benjamin Franklin
11 was the Grand Master of Masons in Pennsylvania, and
12 WHEREAS, Keith W. Dean currently serves as Grand Master
13 of Masons of Florida and is the leader of tens of thousands of
14 Florida Masons and hundreds of thousands of Masons from across
15 the country and around the world who sojourn in this state,
16 and
17 WHEREAS, Keith W. Dean has also been recognized for
18 service to his community in several capacities outside of
19 Freemasonry, and
20 WHEREAS, Keith W. Dean has served the Masonic bodies
21 since he was raised to the degree of Master Mason on August
22 13, 1971, and
23 WHEREAS, Keith W. Dean has served his fellow man in
24 various capacities within the Masonic bodies of this state,
25 including presiding over High Twelve Lodge No. 317, Tampa
26 Council No. 8, Tampa Chapter No. 3, and Tampa Ivanhoe
27 Commandry No. 8, Tampa York Rite Bodies, the Tall Cedars of
28 Lebanon, Suncoast Forrest, and the Grand Council of the State
29 of Florida, as well as active membership in the Scottish Rite
30 Bodies, Valley of Tampa, Egypt Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S., and Palma
31 Ceia Chapter No. 243, O.E.S., and

1 WHEREAS, Keith W. Dean has served his country and this
2 state for 23 years in the United States Air Force, Florida
3 Army National Guard, and Army Reserve, and
4 WHEREAS, Keith W. Dean has served the Grand Lodge of
5 Florida as District Deputy Grand Master of District 20 before
6 being elected Grand Master, and
7 WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the Florida
8 Senate pause in its deliberations to honor the Freemasons and
9 Keith W. Dean for their contributions to this state, NOW,
10 THEREFORE,

12 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

14 That the Florida Senate commends the Freemasons of
15 Florida and Keith W. Dean for their contributions to this
16 state.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,
18 with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Keith W.
19 Dean, Grand Master of Masons of Florida, as a tangible token
20 of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
