14 On page 2, between lines 5 and 6, of the bill

16 insert:
17 Section 3. (1) No tax levied under the provisions of
18 chapter 212, Florida Statutes, shall be collected on sales of
19 instructional materials, literature books, magazines,
20 newspapers, directories, bulletins, and similar publications
21 used in regularly prescribed courses of study during the
22 period from 12:01 a.m., July 29, 2000 through midnight, August
23 6, 2000.
24 (2) The provisions of chapter 120, Florida Statutes,
25 to the contrary notwithstanding, the Department of Revenue may
26 adopt rules to carry out this section.
