  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to insurance adjusters;

  3         amending s. 626.852, F.S.; providing that part

  4         VI of the Florida Insurance Code regulating

  5         adjusters does not apply to employees or agents

  6         of certain governmental entities; providing an

  7         effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Section 626.852, Florida Statutes, is

12  amended to read:

13         626.852  Scope of this part.--

14         (1)  This part applies only to insurance adjusters as

15  defined in this part.

16         (2)  Unless otherwise required by context, the term

17  "adjusters" as used in this part applies to all licensees

18  defined as any type of adjuster.

19         (3)  This part does not apply as to life insurance or

20  annuity contracts.

21         (4)  This part does not apply to third-party

22  administrators or a person employed by a third-party

23  administrator holding a certificate of authority pursuant to

24  ss. 626.88-626.894.

25         (5)  This part does not apply to any employee or agent

26  of a governmental entity providing services in support of any

27  self-insurance program adopted by such governmental entity.

28         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2000.
