18 (1)(a) "Political committee" means:
19 1. A combination of two or more individuals, or a
20 person other than an individual, that:
21 a. Accepts contributions in an aggregate amount in
22 excess of $500 during a calendar year for the purpose of
23 making contributions to any candidate, political committee,
24 committee of continuous existence, or political party;
25 b. Accepts contributions in an aggregate amount in
26 excess of $500 during a calendar year for the purpose of
27 expressly advocating the election or defeat of a candidate or
28 issue;
29 c. Makes expenditures in an aggregate amount in excess
30 of $500 during a calendar year for the purpose of expressly
31 advocating the election or defeat of a candidate or issue; or

1 d. Makes contributions to a common fund, other than a
2 joint checking account between spouses, from which
3 contributions are made in an aggregate amount in excess of
4 $500 during a calendar year to any candidate, political
5 committee, committee of continuous existence, or political
6 party. the primary or incidental purpose of which is to
7 support or oppose any candidate, issue, or political party,
8 which accepts contributions or makes expenditures during a
9 calendar year in an aggregate amount in excess of $500;
10 "political committee" also means
11 2. The sponsor of a proposed constitutional amendment
12 by initiative who intends to seek the signatures of registered
13 electors.
14 (b) Notwithstanding paragraph (a), the following
15 entities shall not be considered political committees for
16 purposes of this chapter:
17 1. Organizations which are certified by the Department
18 of State as committees of continuous existence pursuant to s.
19 106.04, national political parties, and the state and county
20 executive committees of political parties regulated by chapter
21 103 shall not be considered political committees for the
22 purposes of this chapter.
23 2. Corporations regulated by chapter 607 or chapter
24 617 or other business entities formed for purposes other than
25 to support or oppose issues or candidates, are not political
26 committees if their political activities are limited to
27 contributions to candidates, political parties, or political
28 committees or expenditures in support of or opposition to an
29 issue from corporate or business funds and if no contributions
30 are received by such corporations or business entities.
