14         On page 148, lines 3-5, delete those lines

16  and insert:

17         (4)  During the interim preceding the 2001 legislative

18  session, the Educational Governance Transition Task Force

19  shall oversee a study that examines and outlines the

20  implications of restructuring education governance in this

21  state. The study shall be conducted by an independent

22  consultant with expertise in the field of education

23  governance. As part of the study process, the Educational

24  Governance Transition Task Force shall hold statewide hearings

25  to take public testimony on all aspects of the proposed

26  reorganization. A report of final recommendations regarding

27  implementation of the education governance reorganization

28  shall be presented to the Executive Office of the Governor and

29  the Legislature by January 1, 2001.
