1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the City of Deerfield Beach,
3 Broward County; extending and enlarging the
4 corporate limits of the City of Deerfield Beach
5 to include specified unincorporated lands
6 within said corporate limits; providing an
7 effective date.

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11 Section 1. The present corporate limits of the City of
12 Deerfield Beach, Broward County, Florida, are hereby extended
13 and enlarged so as to include, in addition to the territory
14 presently within its corporate limits, that portion of Section
15 16, Township 48 South, Range 42 East, Broward County, Florida,
16 being more particularly described as follows:

18 Beginning at the intersection of the West
19 right-of-way line of Powerline Road (State Road
20 845), as described in House Bill 1573 enacted
21 by the Legislature of the State of Florida in
22 1999, with the South line of the South half of
23 the North half of the Southeast quarter of said
24 section 16;

26 thence Westerly along said South line to a line
27 1200 feet East of and parallel with the West
28 line of the South half of the North half of the
29 Southeast quarter of said Section 16;

1 thence Northerly along said parallel line to
2 the North line of the South half of the North
3 half of the Southeast quarter of said Section
4 16;

6 thence Easterly along said North line to said
7 West right-of-way line of Powerline Road (State
8 Road 845);

10 thence Southerly along said West right-of-way
11 line to the Point of Beginning.

13 Lying in Broward County, Florida.

15 Containing 20 acres, more or less.

17 Section 2. All public roads and the public
18 rights-of-way associated therewith, lying within the limits of
19 the lands subject to annexation herein, as described in
20 section 1, are transferred from Broward County jurisdiction to
21 the jurisdiction of the annexing municipality, except any
22 county collector roads.
23 Section 3. On the effective date of this act, the City
24 of Deerfield Beach shall be responsible for and embodied with
25 all municipal powers granted in chapter 166, Florida Statutes,
26 over territory hereby annexed.
27 Section 4. Nothing in this chapter shall be construed
28 to affect or abrogate the rights of parties to any contracts,
29 whether the same be between Broward County and a third party
30 or between nongovernmental entities, which contracts are in
31 effect prior to the effective date of annexation.

1 Section 5. This act shall take effect September 15,
2 2000.
