  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the City of Pompano Beach,

  3         Broward County; providing for the extending and

  4         enlarging of the corporate limits of the City

  5         of Pompano Beach to include specified

  6         unincorporated lands within said city;

  7         establishing the effective date of annexation;

  8         providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  The present corporate limits of the City of

13  Pompano Beach, Broward County, Florida, are hereby extended

14  and enlarged so as to include, in addition to the territory

15  presently within its corporate limits, that portion of Section

16  16, Township 48 South, Range 42 East, Broward County, Florida,

17  being more particularly described as follows:

18                           DESCRIPTION

20         That portion of Sections 14, 15, 16, 17, 20,

21         21, 22, and 23, Township 48 South, Range 42

22         East, Broward County, Florida, described as

23         follows:

25         Beginning at the intersection of the North line

26         of the Northeast quarter of said Section 27

27         with the Easterly right-of-way line of the

28         Seaboard Coastline Railroad;

29

30         thence Westerly along said North line of the

31         Northeast quarter of said Section 27 to the

  1         Westerly right-of-way line of the Seaboard

  2         Coastline Railroad as described in Chapter

  3         83-506, Laws of Florida;

  5         thence Northeasterly along said Westerly

  6         right-of-way line to the South right-of-way

  7         line of N.W. 36th Street (Sample Road) as

  8         described in said Chapter 83-506, Laws of

  9         Florida;

11         thence Westerly along said South right-of-way

12         line to the East right-of-way line of the

13         Sunshine State Parkway;

14

15         thence Northerly along said East right-of-way

16         line to the North right-of-way line of N.W.

17         36th Street (Sample Road);

18

19         thence Easterly along said North right-of-way

20         line, and any road easements therefore, of N.W.

21         6th Street (Sample Road) to the Westerly

22         right-of-way line of Powerline Road (State Road

23         845);

24

25         thence continue Easterly along the North

26         right-of-way line of N.W. 36th Street (Sample

27         Road), as described in House Bill 1573 enacted

28         by the Legislature of the State of Florida in

29         1999;

  1         thence continue Easterly along the North

  2         right-of-way line of N.W. 36th Street (Sample

  3         Road) to the Easterly  right-of-way line of the

  4         Seaboard Coastline Railroad;

  6         thence Southerly along the Easterly

  7         right-of-way line of the Seaboard Coastline

  8         Railroad and the West line of that parcel of

  9         land described in Ordinance No. 90-54 of the

10         City Commission of the City of Pompano Beach,

11         Florida and the West line of that parcel of

12         land described in Ordinance No. 90-53 of the

13         City Commission of the City of Pompano Beach,

14         Florida and its Southerly extension to the

15         Point of Beginning.

17         Lying in Broward County, Florida.

19         Section 2.  On the effective date of this Act, the City

20  of Pompano Beach shall be responsible for and embodied with

21  all municipal powers granted in chapter 166, Florida Statutes,

22  over territory hereby annexed.

23         Section 3.  Nothing in this Act shall be construed to

24  affect or abrogate the rights of parties to any contracts,

25  whether the same be between Broward County and a third party

26  or between nongovernmental entities, which contracts are in

27  effect prior to the effective date of annexation.

28         Section 4.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

29  law.
