  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the City of Pompano Beach,

  3         Broward County; providing for the extending and

  4         enlarging of the corporate limits of the City

  5         of Pompano Beach to include specified

  6         unincorporated lands within said city;

  7         establishing the effective date of annexation;

  8         providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11

12         Section 1.  The present corporate limits of the City of

13  Pompano Beach, Broward County, Florida, are hereby extended

14  and enlarged so as to include, in addition to the territory

15  presently within its corporate limits, the area particularly

16  described as follows:

17                           DESCRIPTION

19         That portion of Sections 14, 15, 16, 17, 20,

20         21, 22, and 23, Township 48 South, Range 42

21         East, Broward County, Florida, described as

22         follows:

23

24         Beginning at the intersection of the South line

25         of the Southeast quarter of said Section 22

26         with the Easterly right-of-way line of the

27         Seaboard Coastline Railroad;

28

29         thence Westerly along said South line of the

30         Northeast quarter of said Section 27 to the

31         Westerly right-of-way line of the Seaboard

  1         Coastline Railroad as described in Chapter

  2         83-506, Laws of Florida;

  3

  4         thence Northeasterly along said Westerly

  5         right-of-way line to the South right-of-way

  6         line of N.W. 36th Street (Sample Road) as

  7         described in said Chapter 83-506, Laws of

  8         Florida;

  9

10         thence Westerly along said South right-of-way

11         line to the East right-of-way line of the

12         Sunshine State Parkway;

14         thence Northerly along said East right-of-way

15         line to the North right-of-way line of N.W.

16         36th Street (Sample Road);

18         thence Easterly along said North right-of-way

19         line, and any road easements therefore, of N.W.

20         6th Street (Sample Road) to the Westerly

21         right-of-way line of Powerline Road (State Road

22         845);

24         thence continue Easterly along the North

25         right-of-way line of N.W. 36th Street (Sample

26         Road), as described in House Bill 1573 enacted

27         by the Legislature of the State of Florida in

28         1999;

30         thence continue Easterly along the North

31         right-of-way line of N.W. 36th Street (Sample

  1         Road) to the Easterly  right-of-way line of the

  2         Seaboard Coastline Railroad;

  4         thence Southerly along the Easterly

  5         right-of-way line of the Seaboard Coastline

  6         Railroad and the West line of that parcel of

  7         land described in Ordinance No. 90-54 of the

  8         City Commission of the City of Pompano Beach,

  9         Florida and the West line of that parcel of

10         land described in Ordinance No. 90-53 of the

11         City Commission of the City of Pompano Beach,

12         Florida and its Southerly extension to the

13         Point of Beginning.

15         Lying in Broward County, Florida.

17         Section 2.  On the effective date of this Act, the City

18  of Pompano Beach shall be responsible for and embodied with

19  all municipal powers granted in chapter 166, Florida Statutes,

20  over territory hereby annexed.

21         Section 3.  Nothing in this Act shall be construed to

22  affect or abrogate the rights of parties to any contracts,

23  whether the same be between Broward County and a third party

24  or between nongovernmental entities, which contracts are in

25  effect prior to the effective date of annexation.

26         Section 4.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

27  law.
