  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to public officers' and

  3         employees' traveling expenses; amending s.

  4         112.061, F.S.; increasing the amount allowed

  5         for meals while traveling on public business;

  6         reenacting s. 112.3148(7)(e), F.S., relating to

  7         the reporting of gifts; providing an effective

  8         date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11

12         Section 1.  Paragraph (b) of subsection (6) of section

13  112.061, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

14         112.061  Per diem and travel expenses of public

15  officers, employees, and authorized persons.--

16         (6)  RATES OF PER DIEM AND SUBSISTENCE ALLOWANCE.--For

17  purposes of reimbursement rates and methods of calculation,

18  per diem and subsistence allowances are divided into the

19  following groups and rates:

20         (b)  All travelers shall be allowed the following

21  amounts for subsistence while on Class C travel on official

22  business as provided in paragraph (5)(b):

23         1.  Breakfast.....................................$6 $3

24         2.  Lunch.........................................$9 $6

25         3.  Dinner......................................$15 $12

26         Section 2.  For the purpose of incorporating the

27  amendment to paragraph (b) of subsection (6) of section

28  112.061, Florida Statutes, in reference thereto, paragraph (e)

29  of subsection (7) of section 112.3148, Florida Statutes, is

30  reenacted to read:

  1         112.3148  Reporting and prohibited receipt of gifts by

  2  individuals filing full or limited public disclosure of

  3  financial interests and by procurement employees.--

  4         (7)

  5         (e)  Lodging provided on consecutive days shall be

  6  considered a single gift.  Lodging in a private residence

  7  shall be valued at the per diem rate provided in s.

  8  112.061(6)(a)1. less the meal allowance rate provided in s.

  9  112.061(6)(b).

10         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2000.

13                          HOUSE SUMMARY

      Increases to $6 for breakfast, $9 for lunch, and $15 for
15    dinner the allowable rate for reimbursement for meals for
      public officers and employees while traveling on public
16    business.
