14 Delete everything after the enacting clause

16 and insert:
17 Section 1. (1) A person may not engage in a deferred
18 presentment transaction in this state. For purposes of this
19 act, a deferred presentment transaction is defined to mean
20 providing currency or a payment instrument in exchange for a
21 person's check and agreeing to hold that person's check for a
22 period of time prior to presentment, deposit, or redemption.
23 (2) Any person who violates this section commits a
24 felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s.
25 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084, Florida Statutes.
26 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
27 law.
