  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to rural areas of critical

  3         economic concern; creating s. 288.06562, F.S.;

  4         providing a definition; authorizing insurance

  5         carriers to issue a premium credit on workers'

  6         compensation premiums for employers who own an

  7         existing business or open a new business in

  8         such an area; providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  Section 288.06562, Florida Statutes, is

13  created to read:

14         288.06562  Rural areas of critical economic concern;

15  economic incentive.--

16         (1)  As used in this section, "rural area of critical

17  economic concern" means an area designated as a rural area of

18  critical economic concern by executive order of the Governor

19  pursuant to s. 288.0656(7).

20         (2)  A premium credit of 15 percent may be issued by an

21  insurance carrier writing workers' compensation insurance in

22  this state on workers' compensation premiums for those

23  employers who own an existing business or open a new business

24  in a rural area of critical economic concern on or after July

25  1, 2000.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

27  law.
